KRIYA MOUNAM PRACTICE

The Mahatmas that I lived with as a boy in the Himalayas spoke very little... Excessive speech harms the mind... Adept kriya yogis practice three kinds of silence, Tapas to control speech... 1.) Vak Mounam: (Silence in speech)... It means limiting one’s speech to the needs of the occasion... 2.) Mano Mounam: (Silence of the mind)... The mind is a bundle of thoughts... These thoughts have to be reduced gradually... When thoughts are reduced, restlessness is reduced... Then, the Shakti of the Atma manifests itself... As a consequence, Buddhi becomes more powerful than the senses... When control of speech and control of mind has been achieved, the state of “Maha Mounam” (supreme silence) is easily realized... kriya Yogis should strive to reach the third stage through the discipline of the first two stages...
