Both physical and mental stillness should be practiced at first.

1) Become comfortable sitting physically still for periods of time.

2) Become comfortable being mentally still for periods of time (don't pay attention to the mental stories of your mind).

You will find moments of peace and bliss and as you become more comfortable, the moments of peace and bliss will become longer.

Thoughts are the epiphenomenon of dynamic Prana (life energy). The sum total of thoughts is the genesis of the pseudo-subject including all objects including your elemental carbon based body. The practice of being still is the antidote to all mental activity, physical stress and emotional anxiety.
